Shower shock

hello fellow SIT enthusiats
I have lived in my home for 30 years and since day one we have sometimes experienced a small shock when turning on the outside shower handles. I have had electricians look at the issue with no answers but in talking with neighbors ,they also have the same problem. We live on a tiny island of 40 houses.....we had a well until 10 years ago when we switched to town water. That did not solve the problem. I was told by one electrician that the island wasn't grounded ...what does that mean?

Re: Shower shock

Were all the houses built by the same developer? The first thing that comes to mind is the main ground from the panel box to the water pipe. Look at that first.

I don't know how one grounds an island. Hawaii has a few islands. NY has Staten Island, Long Island, Fire Island, Roosevelt Island, etc..... I don't think that they were all grounded.

Re: Shower shock

Unless your island is floating free in a body of water, your island is grounded.

Only islands floating on a large buoyant mass can float free, and those are only in literature.

Do you have a static electricity problem? May not because static depends on a dry climate to develop.
