Greetings from eastern NC

Hello,
Just wanted to say Hi. I'm retired from the Air Force, 26yrs in, retired 10yrs now and have learned to do most basic things around the house. I grew up helping my dad. He taught me so much as I grew up. As my user name states, learning from experience. That seems to be the way I grasp things the most. LOL Some times the hard way. Anyway I'm here in eastern NC retired and was stationed at Seymour Johnson AFB. A transplant from western PA.

Re: Greetings from eastern NC

Welcome to the diychatroom! Back in my younger days (1953) I worked for McDonnell Aircraft in St. Louis... worked on the F2H3 Banshee, old straight wing fighter. They switched over to making the F4's and the first ones were so under powered that the Navy stalled the production and I got laid off. My forman said the F4 was so slow it needed a Ford tractor to pull it up to speed.

Now that I think back on that, it wasn't the F4, it was the F-101 Voodoo, a USAF bird. Oh well, their probably both grounded out of service by now. That was 66 yrs. ago!

I worked on the F-4 at first and then the F-15E came to Seymour Johnson. I'd do it all over again. The F-4 was a flying brick and proof that anything could fly if powered enough.
