Dried on Thinset

Just had a terrible job done on my shower by someone who professed he knew how to lay glass tiles. While the tiles were nearly correctly put on, he left on thinset which dried and looked awful. I tried everything I could think of. Hacksaw blade, utility knife and even a good old short kitchen knife. I eventually got it all off with white vinegar and a very hard scrubber.
