Threads with new posts

When I go to the site starting yesterday, the main page shows subforums that have new posts (the little icon to the left of each subforum name). But when I click into the subforum, all the thread show as old, even ones that have new posts since the last login. Is this happening to anyone else?

I have been getting that at Contractor Talk (which is a sister forum to DIY Chatroom) for the past couple of months, but no problem on this forum.

I am not seeing that. It's also possible that we removed the new post if it was spam.

Re: Threads with new posts

Yes, to OP, for over 3 weeks, the newest post doesn't show for as long as 10 min. It shows under New Posts but can't be accessed.

No, that's not possible, as I am seeing the new posts, they're just not being flagged as new posts. I know they're new, because I last logged in (for example) yesterday, and I'm seeing posts from today.

There is going to be a natural cache of the site, it is faster when you are logged in, but it won't always be "instant". I will look into this some more.

Just to verify, you are logged in when this happens?

It's not a caching thing. What happens is, for instance, I'll look at the main page, and see (because the icon to the left shows it) that Plumbing has new posts. But I'll click into Plumbing, and all of the threads are shown as having been read (not bold). Yet, the timestamp on the most recent post could have been a minute or two before the current time, way after the last time I logged in.

Re: Threads with new posts

It still sounds like caching, either from the site or the ISP. I will keep an eye on it, but so far I have been unable to replicate it.
