Re: Password Changes

@That Guy
It seems to me that a couple of extra keystrokes to access this valuable resource of free information that the Diy Chatroom provides is quite a fair price to pay.

Of course you don't even need to be logged in to just search and read.

Re: Password Changes

Password security is needed on some sites like ones that have your credit card and address.
But for a forum site like this that doesn't even have my real name I think it is a bit excessive. A simple password should be fine for the normal user.

Re: Password Changes

The password requirements on this and other boards are more strict than those of my bank account.

You need to have numbers, caps, if i remember a symbol. Has to be a certain number of characters.

it's ridiculous.

So what if someone breaks into my account on this board? He or she would be able to post and maybe get a hold of the email address i use to sign up for things which doesn't have a name.

So what?

Re: Password Changes

I had some really weird experiences, here, a couple years ago, so it doesn't bother me.

Re: Password Changes

I ditto the complaints and observations of the other members.

It took me only 2 attempts to reset my password,

But really can't there be a program written that as soon as some (expletive deleted) hacker tries to gain unauthorized access to these sites, a shutdown and overheat bug is sent to the hackers computer, that would sure stop them dead.

Well I got reset fairly easily, and will stop griping now, you have heard it plenty today already.

P. S. I did notice a few days ago that an ad was running that I thought was quite offensive, might that and similar occurences have anything to do with your forced reset?

Re: Password Changes

@Cricket
I couldn't view anything in tapatalk until I reset the password. I couldn't get to the password reset page from the "enhanced mobile web mode." Once I did reset, tapatalk logged without requiring the new password....

PS. When can we get 2 factor authentication?

And then there are those that change every 30 days, and can't match any of the last 48 or 60... Made much worse by the fact that you must use the service....

Anyways, password hygiene is a good thing. Your in the digital age, it's already here. Have fun.

Cheers!

Old folks learn to compensate for lost items.
Password written with an old fashion lead pencil on an old fashion piece of paper gets photographed with my phone camera, that's 1 place to find it. That pic gets sent to my desk pic folder and dated, that's 2 places to locate it. And for good measure the password gets recorded in my phone notes and dated, so that's 3 places to find it.

And non retired people think old folks have a lot of spare time. Not true, we're busy.

Re: Password Changes

security is actually HARD, having everyone change their password ain't gonna stop anyone who knows what they are doing. but if it makes you feel better, annoy us!

Tapatalk is a 3rd party app and not something I have control of, but if you have already changed your password and are still getting that alert, then you might need to clear the cache in your app settings on your phone.
