It will be simple, I promise. I will be happy to help if you need assistance.

The next time you log in it will tell you your password has expired and that you need to create a new one. It doesn't have to be difficult to comply with the password guidelines. I like to use phrases that I can remember.

As an example.

Need4Candy! (Don't use this one. It's just an example.)

So, while we are locked out trying to figure this out, we can ask for help?

You shouldn't get locked out because it will let you log in under your old info and then let you know to update. Wait to make changes until you see a notice to do so.

If for any reason you do have trouble logging back in you can always contact me for assistance. There is a link in the footer of the site.

Nope, you can not be contacted there and as some of us don't keep track of passwords. It took a little to find the forgot password from that page.

Re: Password Changes

For those of you who are logged in, but cannot remember your password because you save it to your browser, if you click on the empty space for your current password, it will bring up your username. Clicking it will fill in your current password so that you can make the changes.

Re: Password Changes

Hi Cricket,
If you see a request come through from me for help, I finally made it thanks to another member. Far more complicated than this old guy can handle and no easy way to say help. I need to dig out a cold brew.

But thanks as I do understand you are dealing with external issues not of your making.
Bud
And thank you Larry

I am so pleased to see you made it back safe.

Yes, a cold one sounds good right now.

Yea. It would only go to 2 pages, and contact wasn't one of them.

Re: Password Changes

This is yet another glaring example of how out of control the password situation is. While everyone can appreciate the need for security on websites like this, being required to use a symbol in your password, for a normal non priveleged member is retarded.

Further, more and more websites are requiring registrations and passwords in order to access those sites, its ludicris to think that people, will not use the same p[assword, or some variation of the same password, across multiple platforms. Its just not going to happen.

Also, with your older generations, - our parents, typically will use the exact same password, across every website they visit. and while they are told repeatedly not to do this, they do it because EVERY STUPID WEBSITE REQUIRES A RETARDED PASSWORD!

Seriously, a symbol, a capital letter, and a number, plus X character long. Whats next? a thumb print? or an iris scan to read a message board about home imporvement? Like seriously?

I realize that the Admin is sort of stuck using Vbulletin which runs most forums, but admins need to realize that these password requirements are stupid, and becoming a serious burden on their users...

Oh and I love this one: Security experts warn against writing down your password! LOL!!!!!

Ya because the average person can remember his exact password for every site he visits, in enough time before his account gets locked out, for 'attempted hacking'

And dont ya just love those passwords which 'need' to be changed every 30 days... like really?!
