Re: Attention - Password and Security Update

If the save changes isn't working, something above that area is not completed in one of the steps.

@rusty baker , I just sent you a PM so that I can help you with this.

Rusty---the very first box asks for your current password--the one that you want to get rid of---I missed that the first time I tried---and failed.

Just as a general hint on passwords. Use a different password for your banking sites, investment and any other financial or medical sites than you do for sites such as a Diychatroom. Which really doesn't have a lot of personal info. And your password should be just as complex as the one you got sent. Used to be a simple password cracking algorithm required a super computer. A relatively simple dual processor PC with a GPU on the video card can crack eight character passwords fairly quickly

There's 2 other forums that I belong to that rolled out this new password update. I suspected something was going on, and this is the only forum to actually talk about it out of the 3.

I must have made 6 different mistakes on 6 attempts, before I finally did it with no mistakes.

But I'll admit, other then the first mistake, they were all from not paying attention to what I was doing, and what the form was looking for.

Re: Attention - Password and Security Update

Password requirements are a little much, no? Password here is most complex password of all my password on the tronz, even more than my banking passwords. Never thought my most complex password would be at DIYCHAT

Re: Attention - Password and Security Update

According to jimn01 8 digits is old school and any old half decent PC in the last few years can run a program and de-scramble them.

10 digits is the Brave New World we live in.

Hackers got into the main page of one of Canada's major banks and hijacked/hot linked a bunch of it. I had to help my Neighbor who got sucked into the hijack and ended up talking to a help guy in India who wanted to sell her help to get out of it. If they can hack the banks you may want to increase your password strength IMO.
