Just a dumb story

Friend called me up yesterday about borrowing a re cip saw. I went and found it complete with a 8" bimetal blade, brought in and set it in the hall ready for pick up. He didn't yesterday.
This morning at 3;30 got up for a pee and guess what I found right between my toes and it was stuck in there good. Now my foot is almost 3 ft long and pointing the wrong way to drag it to the kitchen for a chair to sit on. Managed to get to the kitchen and hit a light switch on the way.
After about five minutes and 10 good pulls with some colourful language I did get it pulled out of my foot. Managed to stop the bleeding with a bunch of Kleenex stuffed between my toes.
The place looked like a serious crime had been committed here. Got that cleaned up and got dressed and got myself to emergency where they fixed it up with a tube of glue. The Doc measured the cut and the blade and figured it was in about 1 1/4"

Good grief, I can almost feel that, you are going to have one sore foot for a while. I hope it heals quickly.

Re: Just a dumb story

Remember my tale last year about an injured foot, then Amputation?

Take extreme care of that injury, being peglegged is no party. You spend way too much time with wheels under your butt, and the change in height perspective is frightening. Keep off it as long as the Doctor advises, if anything looks amiss, get to a care facility fast as you can.

Be well.

Fucidin is a very effective antibiotic cream.

Thanks Ed: they gave me the tet shot and supply of antibiotics so hopefully this too will pass.
I have never had them use crazy glue before, no freezing or stitches, bonus.

Re: Just a dumb story

I've crazy glued my own injuries a few times now. Trick is to NOT glue
your fingers to the wound while holding it closed till the glue takes-)

Re: Just a dumb story

Apparently there is such a thing as medical grade 'crazy glue' but studies have shown that the regular stuff is just as benign. Maybe they make sure the medical stuff and its packaging is cleaner.

Neal: Tetanus shot or booster?

You can cause infection by a resistant bacteria by using an antibiotic without a culture. I mean after the initial antibiotic. Hopefully, he gave him a shot & or pills to take.

Re: Just a dumb story

Next time, if the sharp object is in deeply, leave it in & call an ambulance. Less bleeding!

Wish I'd seen it! ---------------------------------------------------------

The bleeding stopped as soon as I got the blade out.
I wanted my pants on.

How about pants, & boots next time you go to the bathroom in the middle of the night. You're an ad for steel-toed boots!

Oh, this is too tempting! There's a rule in hospital nursing . . . after you get them ready to sleep, you take a look around as you go out the door . . . is there any way they can be hurt. . .

Try that.

Be well!
