Why are crawl space dehumidifiers so expensive?

I am looking at controlling moisture in a crawlspace and find a big difference in price between room dehumidifier and crawlspace dehumidifiers. Wondering why?

To your question, a crawlspace is usually cooler thus needs a better dehumidifier to extract the moisture.

But, why is the humidity high?

Your nearest big city will help us understand your weather conditions.

Does the CS have a dirt floor and if so is it covered and sealed with a heavy vapor barrier?

Are there moisture issue down there like rain run off or active sump pit?

Regular units ice up if the temp is too low. As bud asked, why do you want a dehumidifier? How about installing a small window fan and run it 24/7? I do it for my bsmt and it does take out the musty smell, although I know they are different. If not lined, plastic or concrete, maybe this is an idea? Line the ground with french drain pipes (holes), connect them to a fan then cover the whole thing with thick plastic. Just a speculation and never saw anybody do it this way. Just an idea.
