Tecumseh Electrical Start Conversion

I need info on Electrical start conversion - I have a 10HP Tecumseh on a Coleman Powermate contractor 5000W Gen, PLO525208 Ser 67070612, cast iron sleeve, looks like steel flywheel with no gear (light thrust) "looking in starter block off plate". I'd like to convert to electrical 12V start. No need for alt, connecting to the existing battery bank. Can I add a ring gear to this flywheel and install starter to the crankcase? existing tapered holes.

Re: Tecumseh Electrical Start Conversion

I converted a Briggs 10 HP engine to electric start. I did this by going to a Briggs repair shop - authorized factory repair. And I took along the model number of the engine, and any other numbers on the engine/engine block.

Then the parts guy there was able to order the parts I needed. A geared flywheel, starter, screws was all as I recall. I added my own wiring, switch and battery. (I did not get a recharging alternator either.)
