Inground Pool surround damage question

Hello,

I needed to repost with pictures to better describe my pool damage.

pool damage please help-7031.jpg

My first home has a large inground pool. The pool surround is made of fiberglass. The fiberglass is flecking on the surface and causing raised splinters. Anyone know how to fix this?

Thank you in advance. I'd like to accomplish this myself.

pool damage please help

I am a first time home buyer with an inground pool. The surrounding of the pool is damaged. Any advice how to fix this myself? I posted yesterday but it wouldn't let me edit with pictures.

Thank you.

All new coping. Hope you bargained it out of the purchase price when it was inspected. Good Luck. JMO

Re: pool damage please help

It's fiberglass walls with concrete after 3 feet deep with no liner. So the top perimeter will detach from the walls?

Any idea where the best place online to shop for matching replacement? TIA

Re: pool damage please help

Wow, not what I would call a simple DIY project by any means. UTOOB has a lot of vinyl/tile coping install videos to get one oriented. Best to know how deep of water one is stepping in to, before investing in a lot of chase time for parts.

The best bet is to be able to find the original pool installer somehow. As they will have the contacts on the exact replacement coping. Not easy to do, as pool companies come and go quickly sometimes.

Most builders and home owners try to do pool business with the locals. Even if you cannot find the original installer, some pool company may have a contact person that knows where to get the coping.

Good Luck.

Looks like an old “hallmark” pool package.
