neighbors and their garbage

by my home i have a sticky situation.

my neighbor bought his property with a sold easement on the other side of his property basically eliminating his private driveway. there is enough room for a car port up until the structure of the home on that side of the property. eliminating space to utilize that area for anything else. because of this issue the tenants put their garbage on the 2 foot easement on my side which is connected to my driveway. their garbages are large outdoor garbages with wheels on them.
that said my car has scratches on it now because of their stupid garbages.

i keep scratching my head on what to do. i build a fence and then i loose being able to utilize that 2 feet further down the driveway. so i dont want to do that.
what else can i do?

Front yard? Call code enforcement. Trash cans need to be behind the building line.

Put some decorative rocks in that part of your yard so as to make it impossible for cans to sit there.

If they are not encroaching on your property you may have to live with it.

Re: neighbors and their garbage

Some locales restrict garbage cans being stored where easily visible from the road.
You said easement - who's property are the cans sitting on? Have you talked to the neighbors or their landlord?

cans sit on their property most of the time. since they are large cans if they are slightly off from touching their home it ends up on my property. they need to walk on my property to move them. where can i see storage laws? im located in brooklyn ny

There's an old saying "good fences make good neighbors". Unfortunately living that close together means your lives need to interact more than on a 5 acre lot. Have you had a talk with them, part of that necessary interaction.

they are an old couple set in their ways. the owner is trying to sell the property. the couple will not move it to a different location and the owner offered to sell me the 2 feet eliminating the issue but i cannot afford it

Re: neighbors and their garbage

Building line generally refers to the front most position on which a structure can be built. Some places specify the front building line others say the rear of the house.

I'm betting 2 or 3 is what you want.
