Gravel walkway subsurface

I removed a small concrete slab. I like to relevel subsurface and put crusher run or another type of gravel that would be durable.

The subsurface is sand which the slab was resting on.

Can i leave the sand?

Re: Gravel walkway subsurface

If it was mine and I did not want it to keep sinking, I'd be laying down driveway cloth, (aka silt screen) a layer of #57 stone then the crush and run.

Re: Gravel walkway subsurface

^^^ this.

Anytime you have layers of materials with disparate D50, you need to separate them with a geotextile to keep the finer particles from migrating into the voids, causing settlement.
