Gas stove question

I recently bought a house which has a propane tank which is plumbed throughout the house and deck. I purchased a gas fireplace and put out on the deck. However, I cannot get it to light. I know that air is coming out of the line, however the pilot light is not lighting. Do I need to purge the gas line? This is the first time out has been used by us. I checked all the connections and there are know leaks. When I put a lighter to the pilot and turn the gas on, the flame moves (so I know air is coming out) however it is not flammable.

When you see the flame moving, you are purging the gas line. Sometimes, I wll turn on a range burner and hold the match near the burner. More gas flows through the range burner than the pilot. Try the pilot again, thistime with more patience

Here is a really big question. Did you put in the orifice for Propane on your "gas" fireplace? As for that air, it is not air, it is vapor that you are releasing into the atmosphere.
