Dog fence?

Is there any reason someone would install an "invisible" dog fence if they don't have a dog?
I pass this one house in the neighborhood where one was installed a few months ago, and I have yet to see or hear a dog in the yard/house.

Maybe a relative of Claude Raines lives there.

Or the dog ran through it........ My buddy just installed one - I never realized the thing stops shocking the dog after it gets through the fence. One good run is all it takes.

Maybe it is for the kids, or for the husband.
