Dirt Piles

I've had a burning question for a while now that I was wondering if any of you know the answer to. You know when a new subdivision is built and there are those huge piles of dirt left over? What happens to them? Where do they go afterwards? They have to go somewhere right? Thank you for helping to end my confusion.

Around these parts, those hills of clay are hauled off to some other area of the subdivision where fill is needed. Streets, building pads, etc.

In this area that is a pile of money --the fill and top soil are sold----

Helping yourself to the 'free' dirt can get you arrested for theft and trespassing.

Some of the excavators need to remove the soil and dispose of it---that is when you can actually get free fill or top soil---However ,you need to know the excavator in order to get any----

Developers often sell it to topsoil companies, so all the new homowners have to buy it back from the garden centers after they discover their beautiful sod lawns were laid on sand.

Ayuh,.... In the land development business, Dirt is a Product, worth Money,...

Excess dirt is stockpiled, moved to where it's needed, or sold off,...

One thing it Ain't, is Waste,...
