Hi Cricket:

Please let me first thank you for running this contest. I am more than honoured and humbled to have been selected as one of the participants.

Of course I offer my thanks and congratulations to the other nominees, all of whom have excellent projects.

But I have to say that it was the participation of an enormous number of members from this site who were willing to participate on a regular basis which brought life to this endeavour. It is indeed them to whom I owe my greatest thanks.

Shortly after I joined the DIY Chatroom, it became apparent that I might be able to use the Gulf Island thread as a teaching tool, hopefully without the viewers catching on! But this has worked both ways for me as well, and at the risk of singling one person out, I must extend very special thanks to Bud Cline for his never ending ability and patience to teach me how to tile properly. Bud never failed to amaze me with his encyclopaedic knowledge of tile. No matter how obscure the question, Bud always managed to come to my rescue.

As those of you know who have read this thread from the beginning - a Herculean feat in itself - there have been many online friendships which have developed over the past several years. I have been the beneficiary of some wonderful repartee with dozens of members here, and that is something I shall never forget. You all know who you are, and I am indeed in your debt for the many wonderful comments that have been sent my way.

So thank you to all the viewers, all the participants, all the voters, all the moderators...and yes, even to all the lurkers! It has been one terrific ride that I shall treasure for a lifetime.

Hi Mike:

I'm sure you know that the pleasure is all mine. It has been great having you as one of the moderators on the site who participated from the early days.

Many thanks.

Hi Bud:

Trust you to make the arrangements in advance!!!

Again Bud, many, many thanks for all the invaluable help that you took the time to offer over the years. I truly could not have handled that part of the project without your input.

No Sir...THANK YOU! Interest-free loans are always appreciated.

Seriously,
I have learned much more from your thread than you received from me, looking forward to your next project.

Congratulations Keith! It's a fantastic thread and well-deserving of the Project of the Month award.

All of the work - inside and outside - was impressive, but the thing that I found the most interesting was the way you made the curved handrails. Especially the long one on the stairway going from the main floor to the upper level.

I have a HUGE thank you to send to Cricket and Escalate Media.

It seems that in my haste to throw away the constant barrage of emails that I get in from Amazon I managed to delete one VERY important one!

A couple of weeks ago Escalate Media was kind enough to send me the gift card in the amount of $350.00! Whew, that's pretty darned generous if you ask me!

With my less than clever computer skills, but with kind assistance from Cricket, the gift card now sits on my Amazon account, patiently waiting to be used.

When the time comes I will let you know what the gift card went towards.

Again, my most sincere thanks to Cricket, Escalate Media and especially to every single person who has been kind enough to participate on the Golf Island thread over the years.
