bathroom remodel

I am painting my bathroom, but here is my problem. I made a mistake in painted my walls with matte/flat paint rushing. Now I am trying to find out whether there is a product that I can use to seal the paint from moisture. Can someone please help me out with this and giving some advise.

Re: bathroom remodel

Why not second coat it with a semi gloss if that is the finish you want?

Re: bathroom remodel

Hmmmm I did the opposite. I painted my bathroom walls in gloss as that's what everyone in the stores told me it was the right paint for the bathroom but I prefer matte finish. I was wondering if I could just paint a matt clear coat over the top. Does it need to be a gloss or semi gloss to protect it from bathroom humidity?

Re: bathroom remodel

Tradition was to use gloss or semi, but I don't think it matters much. My own only but I used to paint baths ceilings with flat. I never had moldy ceilings. But with a fan.

Re: bathroom remodel

Seems like a primer sealer would work. But as others have pointed out just put on a second coat in your desired finish.

There's various varnishes and such, but I would not recommend putting a clear finish over paint in this case. Definitely the cheapest, fastest, and best thing to do is to buy another gallon of paint with the desired sheen level. Or live with the flat. I've painted bathrooms with flat before and its turned out fine. The only real difference is that you can't clean flat painted walls. You could always live with the flat for awhile and when the dirt bothers you, repaint then.
