Attaching pull up bar/gymnastic rings to 2x4 blocking?

Just wondering if anyone has any comments on this. I'm not worried about the pullup bar, just the gymnastic rings that will hang from it. They will never have over 200lbs on them, but may have some sudden forces placed upon them. Plan at the moment is to connect the pullup bar to two pieces of 2x4 that will go between two floor joists in the basement ceiling. They will be laid on their edge. Is this sufficient or should I go beefier? Anything special as far as screws? Would nails be better are are the forces so small that it shouldn't matter? Originally was going to connect the bar directly to the joists, but realized it would hit a soffit. Thanks.

I used 4 3/8" lag screws, about 4" long for a guy's rings once. I also used a drive rachet on the socket for about the last 1.5" instead of powering it in with a drill, in order to not overheat the screws.

Thanks. The bar comes with lag bolts, when I say screws I mean from the joist to the blocking.
