Penofin is an excellent wood sealer. It is a penetrating oil and they have a 90% UV resistant version. You can get it in clear or a number of colors.

Two years ago I put down Veranda composite decking purchased from Home Depot and I am happy with the results. I have not noticed any mold or scratches and the only thing I did was clean the surface with a deck cleaner made for composite material. By the way, the manufacturer specifically recommends against the use of a pressure washer to clean the surface because the force of the water drives dirt into the composite material. I found that interesting.
