The deck was full width of the house. 22 people is hardly one per joist.

When the beam fails the deck leans against the house and when moved away from the house you would expect them to be upside down because flipping them would be the easiest way to move them in a hurry.

So...

It looks to me like that's only a 2-level deck. The lowest level at the front door is just a porch.

How can you tell the ledger failure wasn't caused by a column failure?

Going to have to wait for the engineer's report to know for sure. But in the video, it sure looks like I see the ledger coming down before I see any movement in the columns.
