Strengthen rafter

Per drawing. Would adding this 2x4 strengthen the rafter from flexing and eliminate the need for an interior bearing wall since the 2x6x14ft rafter is not adequate? Initially I was going to build a 2x4 frame to flatten the ceiling for the 6 ft (add more insulation) but I thought maybe I could bolt the 2x4 for additionall support. The original 2x6 x 14 24 oc has been in place for > 50 years (NE we get snow) but have sagged probably considerably until I replace them with 2x6 pt. I'm inclined to think this won't help much but wanted other opinions before I build an interior bearing wall and lose the openess of the room.

Thanks.
