Steps Code?

Hi All,

I built an addition and will be building a deck off of the back door (next spring). I need to build a little step to get up into my doorway to get my final inspection for my addition.

What is code for these "temporary" steps.

Treads, 11" x 36"and risers between 6" and 8". Call the building dept for your locales parameters.

I don't think you would need a handrail for one step, but local rules apply, not my advice.

In Tenn. we all build to the IBC code. step tread is 11"s and with a max step down of 7 3/4"s. Min of 36"s wide stairway.

Handrail isn't needed unless you have four steps.
