Spreading cement over asphalt driveway?

I had a new asphalt driveway put in six months ago and it was still very soft. I was told to get a bag of Portland cement and spread it over the driveway with a broom, just brush it in to the driveway. Well, I did this and my driveway is hard now, but looks pale like the cement. Can I put an asphalt sealer over my driveway now? I am not sure how it will hold, or if the cement will cause other problems. I was told brushing cement over the asphalt will make it hard and last longer.

Generally if asphalt is soft it's because it wasn't rolled properly or was mixed with to much AC. Concrete and asphalt doesn't seem like a good idea to me.
