Sealing PT wood cuts?

I've looked a lot online and there seems to be a huge difference of opinion on whether to seal cut ends of pressure treated wood.

I can't find any local stores that even carry it in stock.

What do you guys think?

You can't find any stores that carry PT lumber in stock? That seems odd, every BB lumber store sells it.

As to sealing the ends, you can certainly seal the ends with paraffin or similar wax seal products. Not sure how much it extends the life of the PT. I sealed the ends of my ipe deck boards using a paraffin based sealing product, there has been no deterioration in 5+ years, but then again there might not have been any without the paraffin.

I meant I can't find any sort of PT cut sealer in stock anywhere.

There is plenty of PT wood available lol.

Do you know any brand names or products to seal the cuts?

Rust oleum makes a product called wood life green preservative....or something like that. Walmart carries it in my area. Ron

Like yourself, I could not find it locally in stores. Ordered from Amazon Prime instead. The "brown" color fades away and looks a little more natural than the green products. I used some cheap-o disposable chip brushes to apply it. Smells terrible, but that fades as well.

Re: Sealing PT wood cuts?

I've used lot of PT lumber and never sealed the cuts with paraffin or waxy stuff. I've had good results using Wolman CopperCoat Green Wood Preservant. It is a liquid that you brush or mop on the cut ends. I also swabbed it in any holes drilled in or through the lumber. It's available at some Home Depot stores and lumber yards and online. It is available in formulations for above ground use and ground contact.

Thanks

Looks like Amazon it is.

Wanted to buy the ground contact woodman but it's pricey on Amazon

Thanks again
