Is it safe to change to board on board fence?

I need to replace my side by side spruce fence. It has steel posts buried inside the retaining wall. I don't know how deep the posts were buried. Is it safe to replace it with board on board fence? I am wondering if the extra weight will cause burden to the posts and retaining wall. I like the look of board on board fence, but I will go with side by side if board on board might cause issues to the wall in the long run.

All suggestions and advice will be appreciated!

Change away.

That's going nowhere.

for the most part its not going to move but if its in a high wind region i woiuld gap the fence boards slightly so to allow air to pass between the boards so to reduce the chance of acting like a huge sail
joecaption and Drachenfire like this.

You might also want to dress up the posts.

April Wilkerson did a 3-part series on YouTube with a similar fence. Segment 3 showed how she dressed up the posts.

What is "gap the boards" slightly?? In board on board the pickets alternate sides and are set close to a board width apart. Ron
