Round post to square beam

I have found a pile of treated 9" diameter x 25' poles. I want to do a deck at 10' and an all metal shed roof at 20'. 5' in the ground. Stand them in a grid with a maximum span of 12'. Was thinking I could notch and bolt in two 2"x12"x12' sistered boards for the 'beams'. Then hang 2x8x12 joists(16oc) between them. Am I structurally sound or bouncing failing floor or weakened post from notching potential? Thanks to any structural or engineer types out there.

Re: Round post to square beam

You could likely just flatten the sides and use hangers.

Re: Round post to square beam

Full 9" is bigger than usual 6x6 posts used for projects like yours. 6x6 shouldn't be notched because there isn't much left. Your poles should be ok but that is my non engieer assumption. Beam must be solid across the span, no joint. All joints must rest on the poles. Beam ends should have at least 2" seat on the pocket.
