Removing soffit to replace sheathing

I'm in the process of replacing eight feet of wall sheathing. Under my aluminum soffit panels is a plywood soffit.

Should I rip the plywood out of there so that my new sheathing will extend all the way up to the top plate?

Is the sheathing rotted? Why are you replacing it?

Wow, fast reply. The sheathing is cedar lap siding. I already purchased zip system osb panels for the whole house.

I wanted OSB panels to provide a smooth surface for the fiber cement siding that I'll eventually install. I also like the wrb coating on the zip panels.

I guess I have to rip out the soffit, right?

Did you research the AdvanTech at all?

17,000 dryer fires a year, when did you last clean the inside of the dryer near motor or the exhaust ducting?

Gary,

I'm not sure the AdvanTech Sheathing product was available when I purchased the Zip System stuff. Advantech is great for its structural properties, but I still like the integrated WRB so I can do my piecemeal siding work without having house wrap flapping in the wind.

To my original question:

I can see no option but to destroy the soffit.
