Okay, new plan... didnt want to start a new thread so figured I would post it here.
Since a ledger against a brick veneer is a no go, how does this plan sound, and is it viable to keep out moisture.
I recently bought the house and it has new siding and I know the company that installed it, so I can call them out to match the siding now.
So I was pondering removing the few feet of brick veneer where the ledger would go. That part of the brick veneer is only 3 feet tall, so not the biggest job. Then attach the ledger board are originally planned. then have the siding people come out and side the now exposed housing.
here is where the mind is working. Since the brick veneer sat on top of concrete basement walls, I will now have a few inches of exposed top basement wall. I was thinking of securing a few 2x10s or 12s to each other and make up the extra space then just attach the ledger to that. My question is about water penetration, is there a way to prevent water penetration in this type of setup?
