Small claims court is usually good for 5 thousand. Sue the brick layer. Minimal expensive to file.

Sorry I am Canadian. We tend to have a very different legal system.

Note to others hiring contractors---------Lien waiver----this is a legal receipt that the mason should have provided you with ,showing that the materials had been paid---

Very important little bit of paper work.

when you here English that does not make sense it is a red flag as a spammer. This morning I got an email stating the buyer was equiped to release sale item. Somone is blackmailing this poor mason by making his name come up in a negative light on google, something like pay 200 dollars or we will ruin your business. This spammer wrote a program (bot) that auto posts his name and address all over the internet.

I thought something was fishy. A company wouldnt be in business long if they did what the OP claims they did. And since he made 1 post and ran just shows it was all for nothing.

Spam possibly, but hopefully it opened some home owner eyes since in some jurisdictions your house can be taken possession of and sold by the supplier, that wasn't ever paid, at a sheriff's auction.
