As you see the tool box that I hired a while back, left my attic like this. who does something like this... lol. That's why he's a lame dull tool . Can't you cut that 2X4 that is stopping the duct from laying flat? I'm only planning on sawing enough space to fit the thing so I wont trip on the eye sore and slice my face open on a rusty nail. I'm doing this now... so if anyone knows can you please just say yes or no. Thank you guys for the help

Those measly boards hold your first floor ceiling up. If you cut them, how do you expect to walk on them????

I have the same setup in my house, we ran the vent between the joists long enough that it was out of the way, then went perpendicular up and over them and cut a new vent hole on the side of the house. Just buy a longer vent duct.

Actually, it would be the 2nd floor ceiling and these measly boards are every 2 feet or so. That is a pic of my attic and I don't think you understand what I wanted to do here. There would be no walking on the attic floor joists either. It's ok. I got my answer and it can't be done so thats it. I'm over it and moving on to other things that are priority.

HAHAHA is anyone watching this???... Jimmy Fallon doing a spoof of jersey shore called Jersey floor... He plays the guido pretty freakin good. lol

Please tell us you have not done any cutting?

It is an attic.....there might be some 'prettier' ways of doing it....but at least the guy didn't cut your floor joist.....

Not sure he deserves to be called a "tool box"......or "lame dull tool".....it it kind of a reflection on you....and your lack of knowlege of how some of the things in your house work.

Yeah, a bit harsh on the poor guy. After all, you hired him! Were there any provisions in the estimate/proposal that allowed for adjusting the venting due to the floor joists being in the way? Sometimes based on the proposal and what he was being paid you end up with a shortcut of a job like this..........not always the contractor's fault.

You have absolutely no insight about this nightmare of a "contractor" for you to say either good or bad about this person. Right?
You just sound like a miserable and bitter individual and enjoy spew negativity..... (Ughhh, advice- watch a funny movie or something). But, Usually people have reasons behind the things they say...I don't just bash people and say they are ****ty, unless they are.

* Here is just 1 reason he's a tool box lol . He measured the windows wrong (5 or 6 windows). So, I have 5 custom fit (that dont effing fit and that I cant use)brand new windows that I cant use because of a careless mistake . After that and several other half fast projects he completed, I fired him.
Moving on........
