Metal roof vapor barrier question

Hello all, I'm getting ready to start the roof of my pole building. I'm planning on a stapled down vapor barrier on top of my 2x6 purlins before laying down the metal roof. I know I should leave a couple inch gap on the sheet metal at the ridge under my ridge cap. My question is should I cut the vapor barrier at the ridge the length of the shop for ventilation or just roll it up and over the peak? Thanks, 1

There are inside foam closure that are vented and create a ridge vent .I generally use bubble foil over the purlins leaving it shy of the ridge and then use the vented foam closures with a vented soffit.
