insulating

My home is about 20 years old. originally had a carport and the person that lived here prior to the one before me had closed in the carport to create a living room. He also installed a woodburning stove. I don't think that he insulated the exterior of the room, It is just siding and r-max. what do you guys think might be the best and cheaper way to insulate these exterior walls.
