Installing 9" Staggered Rough-Split Shakes


Iam about to start siding my Gable on my new porch, and iam installing 9" Staggered Rough-Split Shakes, But the qustion i have is how do you figure the angle as your running up? I hope you can understand what iam trying to say?

Any gable I’ve ever cut I don't care what the actuall degree of the angle is because it realy doesn‘t matter.

You scribe it.

You run your level coarse until it hits the angle, then hold a board or something as a straight edge against the angle of the roof and scribe a line. Cut that on a scrap and you have your angle pattern.
