Are inscects much of a problem with tubular skylights?

Builder recently installed 2 10" Velux tubular skylights in new one-story addition. (I purchased them at Lowes for this purpose), They look and work great. However he says that I might need to pull the cover at roof level sometime and clean out any insects that might crawl in. I hadn't considered this before and wonder if insects are much of problem with these things. If so, can anything be done ahead of time to prevent it?
