Re: How to build a house in 24 hours

I don't believe it. There is no way that house was built in 24hrs. Maybe the structure, but not the whole house. You would need time to let the concrete set and then finish the interior.

Re: How to build a house in 24 hours

I too think that 24 hours is a dream, plumbing and wiring alone will take that much time.

On another sideline,

Has anyone else seen those houses where they inflate a giant balloon, and spray gunnite (concrete), over the balloon?

let it setup and carve windows and doors in the skin.

Kinda looks like a Flintstone house sitting in the lot.

I am sure it is some parsing of words and they take the curing time out of the "total" build time.

Just an FYI, the world record for building a single family home - starting with a patch of graded dirt, a pile of lumber and drywall, cement trucks, etc - is just under 3 hours.

Re: How to build a house in 24 hours

400 sq ft, and they went to Russia to do it.
That pretty much makes their 24 hour and $10k numbers useless.

It also raises a lot of questions about the engineering and/or codes that went into it, or did not go into it.

Re: How to build a house in 24 hours

I think the point of the video is to demonstrate "proof of concept."

I would think most code issues would just be a matter of changing the programming to meet the desired specs and/or upgrading the specs of the materials.

I can believe the "shell" went up in 24 hours, but they are insinuating the whole house went up in 24 hrs.

Re: How to build a house in 24 hours

A house like that can be built in 24 hours. Not finished inside an out, though. Most places in the world, houses are poured out of concrete and it takes a day or two to built one story, another day for the roof or ceiling. So as long as the foundation is set, it's possible to set rebar, wire conduits with wires, piping, etc., pour concrete, take off the forms 12 hours later when the concrete is set, and rebar and pour the roof. Then another day to put in windows, faucets, toilets, bath tubs, install electrical outlets and light fixtures, cover the roof.

Re: How to build a house in 24 hours

Russia has systems the allow very fast construction including interior walls.

They usually built out precast concrete elements. - They love massive, strong structures.

I saw one that was very fast judging by the big black cars that followed us after we left the site (State secret???). It took about a day with another day for interior for a 2 story home with 3 or 4 bedrooms.

The block foundation was built of 1M x 1M x 1.5M (40"x40"x60"aprox.)blocks set on the soil and some mortar was used as a setting bed and no traditional mortar was needed/used.

The walls were precast with conduit embedded. The exterior wall panels were exposed aggregate on the exterior. The floor slabs (2 story) were plant cast (solid and not hollow core plank) and has conduit embedded. The interior walls were painted/plastered or papered. The roof planks were sloped and concrete tile were installed at the end of the day.

They have a philosophy that buildings should last forever and be massive to withstand everything.

Everything seems to be planned well in advanced with many common details that create problems and slow things down.

It is very interesting and the attention to details is amazing to allow factory production. - Very well planned and accurate, but not for western tastes.

I have made a dozen or more trips and enjoyed the different desires and methods and what they want in the end.

Before I even saw what your post was I was going to show you the exact video that you posted. That surprised the hell out of me seeing this video and am trying to think about how to integrate this into my business

Re: How to build a house in 24 hours

Maybe they found a -faster than 7 days- way to cure it or some timbers in the roof to support it while finishing inside; https://www.fhwa.dot.gov/pavement/co...4/hif10014.pdf

Round walls are cool but wastes a bit of space. Would take a couple of yrs to build the round furniture.
