Hot air ducts from botton of main trunk?

I want to move two ceiling hot air ducts in my new house to near the base of the basement wall. It will be easy if I can tap into the botton of the main hot air trunk and go straight down between the studs of a 2 x 6" wall that I plan to build. Can I tap into the bottom of the main truck or should I tap in on the side or top?
