Putting a new water and electrical system in my home. I would like to run two ¾” pex lines from one end to the other through the joist along with a run for electric. The three runs will run perpendicular to the 2x10 joist, 16” on center with a span of approx 15’. Where do I put the holes? I would like to run along the outside wall just above the block wall for the basement, put I think that’s a no go.
That should be okay.
Drill the holes as close to the centre line as possible, max of about 2" diameter.
3/4 " would likely be enough for the wire, and 1 1/4" for the 3/4" pex.
Not sure if you can run them in the same hole, though. Might be better to run 3 holes with space between them.
Short of cutting off a body part, the worst that can happen in woodworking is manufacturing really nice looking kindling. --- Quoted from lenaitch
