I've got old fashioned garage door springs mounted in the cocrete floor of my garage. An over and under retractable door. 16' x 7'. They are mounted to the vertical tracks by a iron arm. The bolt attaching the spring to the arm broke. How do I re attach? Closed, the other spring is quite stretched it seems.
She8,
Not sure by your description what exactly you have. Sounds like a tilting door not a sectional. Whatever it is, most garage door springs are not under very much tension when the door is in the up position. Makes sense right? I have installed quite a few garage doors. Here in Ohio, most are sectional doors with torsion spring setups, some have extension springs on each side. If you are not sure what you are doing, do yourself a favor and call a garage door guy. Too easy to hurt yourself.
