Full view Storm Door Southern Exposure Advice Wanted
I have varnished wood entry door that faces south. It needs a replacement storm door. While researching storm doors on the web, I read that a full view storm door is not recommended for a southern exposure. Is that statement true or false?
I live in the Midwest, if that affects the answer.
The reason that they do not recommend installing storm doors on the south side is because of the sun. You are asking for trouble if you have no covering such as a small porch roof to protect the door. When you install a storm door that gets direct sunlight, the temperature between the entry door and storm door can reach temps exceeding 300 degrees. With a wood door, the finish will deteriorate and the door will dry out quickly. Hope this helps.
