Frame/support deck around downspout and sump discharge

Yes another deck post from me... Getting ready to submit for the permit on this thing...

I am building a freestanding 18x6 deck 11" from grade.. plain old rectangle. It is going up against a wall that has a downspout and sump discharge that I need to frame around. Looking for advice on how I need to frame/support the deck around these things to meet code.. My city follows the IRC.

The colored rectangle in the image below is where the downspout and sump are.. Circles are the concrete piers.. The obstructions stick out about 5.5 inches from the wall..

Do I have to add support under the areas right next to the downspouts?

Thanks...

You should be able to bulkhead each side of the piping and then run another piece close to the end of the deck boards and be okay.

As per below. A red H indicates Hanger.

Re: Frame/support deck around downspout and sump discharge

I guess I'm missing something. I can't read any of the details from your drawing - maybe it's my monitor. Can the downspout be re-directed away from the deck? Any time I have seen a downspout accommodated at a deck they simply cut that deck board short. Are the left and right headers a ladder to accommodate 'picture frame'deck boards? Are you saying that the deck framing or header will interfere with where the sump discharge emerges from the foundation?

Re: Frame/support deck around downspout and sump discharge

If you save the image you can zoom in.

But yes the downspout and discharge are tight up against the house exterior. I cannot run any framing between the downspout or sump discharge and the house. If I really really really had to I think I could possibly move the downspout and discharge away from the house by 1.5" but both of these are connected to an in ground storm sewer line so I would need to dig up cut/move/re-attach the inground pipes and then extend the sump and downspout out..

I'll get you a picture of the two of them..

And the ladder is to support the picture frame..

Re: Frame/support deck around downspout and sump discharge

Do I not need any support under those 2 corners kind of hanging out there ? Or is that span about 5" or so ok to just leave dangling?

In your drawing how is any of that kept from just sagging?

The piece which is "split" attaches to the house, no?

Oops!

Then you need to place a full length joist as close to the pipes as you can and shoot the decking long.

That's how I did ours and IIR the joist next to the house is 8 or 10 inches away. No one ever seems to want to walk that close to the house and it has worked well.

Problem is that area is supposed to be where the picture frame goes.. those boards run parallel to the joists...

Re: Frame/support deck around downspout and sump discharge

Mount a double joist under the floor system hung off the Beams at the closest position next to the pipes.
Do a change of direction joist system from the wall to the second last full length joist which you double up to take the weight of the change of direction stuff.
These short joists would be hung off the full length double joist and rest on the flush beam.
Fill in blocks on top of the flush beam to carry the decking ends.

I can draw it up later. No time right now.
