Foundation and support under front entry

Our house is done being framed and the majority of the roof has tar paper. The foundation under the front entry was not designed to be recessed back to match the wall above it (See pics). They poured a new footer in the basement directly under the front entry which the GC says was a mistake and will not be used. This threw up a red flag for me so I talked to the GC who said he had questions about the design so they contacted the architect who provided an exhibit to show how this area should be built. Does this seem right? Is this adequate support? With my limited construction knowledge I believe the best design would have been to line up the foundation with the front entry. My relative says the best fix would be to pour a new foundation wall and tie it in to the existing foundation. The wall in question will be a half stone wall with hardy board siding above it all the way up the second story. My relative advised to tell the GC to stop construction as he believes this is not enough support for the roof. I am meeting with the architect Tuesday.

Re: Foundation and support under front entry

Looks like they'll have to get an engineer letter saying if that triple 2x12? or whatever that is is strong enough to support the load of those foyer floor joists, then specify a connection to that double LVL, then say is that LVL strong enough to support the additional load.

Good news is that there is a footer where the wall is supposed to be so maybe they could add some post beams from the triple 2x12? to the poured footer. That might fix it. You might also want to make sure there's a proper footer underneath the displaced wall

Re: Foundation and support under front entry

There are things wrong there for sure. The new footing is in and once the basement floor is in they can build a wood wall under the 3 ply beam and support everything above.
The next question is the flashing detail to get water out and past that concrete ledge.
