What does the term Downset Beam mean and how used?

It is opposite an upset beam, pp 9; http://nhboa.net/wp-content/uploads/...guidelines.pdf

My preference is to call it a "Drop" Beam.
Joists rest on top of it, the Beam is dropped below the joists.
