do i need a side beam for porch roof?

not sure what there called but im rebuilding a porch and the home owner wants me to skip replacing the half rotted corner stud on the house for now. the rest of the house framing is good though. can i build the porch without using a side beam just the front beam stacked 2x10 on 6x6 post and 2x6 lag bolted to house? if your wondering i cant replace the house corner stud thats only stacked 2x6's cheap because the main power line is blocking me and needs moved(i stay away from high voltages)

Post a picture so we can see what your seeing.
The power company in my area will kill the power to the home and come back later when I call them or shield the wires.

Are we thinking about the deck or the roof?

A shed roof does not need a beam on the sides.
A gable roof needs beam on each side.
A hip roof needs the beam on each side and one between the posts.

sorry my phone messed up so i cant get a picture. anyway i did some farther looking at the structure and either way it needs to be fixed before i build the roof so ill be adding a side beam and moving the electric meter anyway due to extending the roof farther in the future
