Deck rebuild questions

I'm back with another deck project . This time is is 5x10, and again very close to ground level. Previously it had true 4x4 acting as beam and joists. Could I do 4x4 again in this configuration, any ideas, thoughts or better suggestions??? Thanks as always!

Re: Deck rebuild questions

A deck should be 6" below the door. Concrete.

Hoping to use composite as I am on the other deck, any way of making it work and having a decent design?

What's your location? I have to say the rot on both these decks is intensive = on grade.

Also, those piers look like 8" prefab blocks just set there. Main deck using the same ones?

Just outside Seattle, WA. The plan is to put in new piers, not quite sure what I should do however as far as those, was thinking of doing piers with anchor bolt and wood to concrete base bracket, prefer not to do overkill if not necessary.

How old is that deck and how long has it been home for all kinds of thing you don't want near the house.

That deck needs 16" OC.

Make your beams out of reinforced concrete with a 2x4 on top, maybe???

if you use lentels with a 2x4 on top you could do 19" on center.

I do not mind doing them closer together, just want to make sure it holds up and is designed correctly.

Treated 2x4s with the peal and stick on, over concrete would give it a chance of lasting.
