Debris coming in through bottom gap of screen in porch ground level.

Hi, I have moved into a house with a screened in porch that is pretty much ground level. There is a gap on the bottom where dirt and debris can come in. I stapled a small screen on the bottom that prevents bigger leaves from coming in.

Is there something else I can do to close that gap to prevent dirt and debris from creeping in? I'm not sure if it's there on purpose since I can still get pollen dust come in through he screen or slight moisture when it rains and if the gap is there to help let things out too.

I attached some pics if u have any ideas!

Pictures do not work.
Most often as you mentioned that gap is for drainage.

Perhaps a 'sweep' for the bottom of the door? There are many different types.

Here are the pictures (couldn't post links as new user). It's not just the door but all the sides. If it's like that for drainage maybe just adding more fine screening may help?

It's hard to get a sense of the whole room from the pics but if it is that open to the elements, the gap under the wall may be helpful for drainage. Might be the nature of the beast.

Agree with lenaitch, need to back up so we can get an overall idea on what was done.
Not even sure if that's a picture of the inside or the outside wall.
Just to make sure I'm not missing something, are you saying the inside floor and outside slab are at the same level?

There are a number of things you could do, but it appears that the previous owner built it that way for a reason. Looks like the gap at the bottom is 1.5 inches. I would see if a trench drain cap would fit in the gap. It would look better than screen and and provide drainage if needed. If you want to seal it completely, lower the trim

I attached another view from the outside and inside that may help clarify. The inside slates are pretty much ground level to outside slab and grass. You can see I stapled a chicken wire type of mesh so at least big debris like leaves don't get in.

Looks like the previous owner enclosed a covered deck. You could rim the gap on the inside or the outside with some pvc trim (not wood). Standard chicken wire is pretty flimsy and may look like heck after not too long. Small mesh welded wire is stiffer. You could create a 'donut' and fit it in the gap. It might even be available in coloured plastic. It would also allow drainage if that's an issue. Depending on how much debris it traps you might have to pull it out and hose it every now and again.
