changing from 2 door garage to 1 large one

I am new to the forum.
I have a 2 car garage with 2 single car garage doors. Its a turned garage attached to house. There are 2 2x10s used as a load bearing beam for the 2x6 ceiling rafters that run down the middle of the garage. The total width of the 2 car garage is 18'. The garage is 1 story with a hipped roof.

I want to remove the center posts (4-2x4s) in between the 2 doors and holding the doubled 2x10 beam. I am thinking of placing an 20' LVL as the header for the new 1 door garage. How can I secure the doubled up 2x10 load bearing beam to the new LVL as a T intersection without putting a post under the 2x10 beam? If it can be done safely. Is there some sort of steel joist hanger for the 2x10 beam that be bolted to the new LVL?

Thank you

Header/Lintel sizing needs to be done by a competent person affter a site visit (in most cases).
Often a Lumber yard will have someone available to assist with this decision.
I would expect that the existing headers will need to be removed and replaced with a longer one.

You can't.

...at least not without consulting a structural engineer.
Let's start with the obvious...that double 2x10 over your two doors is really just spanning two small openings because of the center column. Take that column out and it's now undersized to support the whole span. Adding another beam to it that bears in the middle is going to add even more load to what used to be supported so magnifying that load by several factors. This is something that definitely must be calculated by a professional.

You will need a bracket like a joist hanger. I don't know if standard joist hangars are suitable. You might need to manufacture(weld up) a solid steel bracket.

All this needs the approval of structural engineer.

Seems like a lot of work and expense just get a single double door.

Thank you. I figured it would be cost prohibitive. Thank you all.
