how safe is it to jack up my house to replace a basement wall

depends on how you do it - we do it successfully w/hydraulics & cribbing,,, couple points to consider: 1, don't need to jack up the house for a bsmt wall, just support it; 2, when things don't go right, who do you sue - yourself ?; & 3, by the time you buy all the stuff needed, it wouldn't have been much more to buy the job from an insured specialist - certainly easier on a marriage, too - never having to say ' i told you so !
