Attaching a roof to a house

I have a small concrete slab outside an exterior door to my house. I want to build a small covered porch. I am pretty handy and have all the tools but have never done any roof work. My question is how do I attach the patio roof to the existing roof (fascia). There is a drip edge but no gutter.

Thanks,
Harley

#1 It should not be attached to the fascia for several reasons.
Classic first time DIY mistake to do it that way.
What's on the roof now? Shingles?
Far better to have the rafters setting up on the house roof so there's more pitch, gives you more head room.

Of hand i would say build it like a shed, a separate structure.

Your based 2x4 structure should be separate from the concrete with plastic. The bottom plate studs should be anchored to the concrete base, they have some plastic screws for this purpose.

Fascia board is not structural.

Begal I think you may have miss read the post.
He's just building a roof, not an attached building.
