Antique Newel

Does anyone know of a site that I could find antique newels? If I redo my staircase, I'd like to have something fancier than just a plain post.

You could check antique shops, wrecking yards or create your own, as I did.

See---> http://www.diychatroom.com/f19/outsi...-24531/index6/ <---post #52 has a picture of mine.

Good luck!

There are old house wrecking yards around the country that do nothing else but recycle neat old stuff. Not many of them, so check the web and yellow pages.

Chicago has a place called 'Salvage One"--It's an architectural salvage yard--

I've seen others like it on T.V. in other cities.

Put your location into your profile--someone here might be able to give you a name and address if the know where you live.

Do a search for, " architectual salvage stores".
There's one in Stamford CT, off I-95. I'll post the name later.
